Kresta Laurel Limited has recorded a major achievement in the technology of diagonal movement of personnel from one level to the other with the successful inauguration of 10 KONE escalators in Africa with exquisite side cladding material in glass and trusses and handrails in clients‘ chosen colours.
According to a statement by the company, the elevators have beautiful skirt spot lights on the incline of a 1,000mm step width, in addition to the exclusive KONE innovation of the chain type, which is lubrication free with no oil change and no spills.
This novel concept at the newly completed Silverbird Galleria in Abuja, which was induced by the need to enhance the aesthetic and tourism values of escalators, was brought into Nigeria by Kresta Laurel, the authorised distributor of KONE elevators and escalators in the country.
The statement added that KONE Elevators of Finland, the worldwide technology leaders in elevators and escalators had revolutionised the elevator word in the early 1990s with the introduction of the KONE Ecodisc motor.
The permanent magnet gearless ecodisc motor weighs less than half of a conventional geared fraction machine with only one moving part that is roughly twice as efficient. Its efficiency is three times that of a hydraulic power unit and uses 60 per cent less energy, a saving that can represent half or more than the annual cost of elevator operation.
The statement quoted the Managing Director, Kresta Laurel, Mr. Dideolu Falobi, as saying,"We have recently installed 18 elevators in conjunction with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, two of which are panoramic with steel shaft and glass. Presently, we are installing eight elevators in the new National Assembly Extension, Abuja."
