Stakeholders to address challenges of real estate financing

Stakeholders in the housing sector will be meeting in Abuja, for the 4th Abuja Housing Show/Housing Development Award 2010 and Conference, to proffer solutions to the challenges rocking real estate financing in Nigeria.

A statement signed by the programme Coordinator, Mr. Festus Adebayo, noted that the aim of the conference, which holds on Tuesday and Wednesday, was to provide a platform for all players in the estate industry to showcase their products and services.

The conference has as it theme, "Global Economic Crisis and the Challenges of Real Estate Financing."

The statement said, "It is expected that the conference will be a meeting point and a one stop shopping mall for architects, builders, surveyors, real estate practitioners, fund manager, investors, financiers, federal and state government, ministries of housing and urban development, project development consultants, private estate developers, lawyers acting in advisory capacities, insurers, purchasers of real estate products, among others.

"The conference will also provide a platform to enable innovators, or construction-related products, manufacture and marketers of building materials exhibit, promote and sell their good and service."

, and allow providers of services in building design, construction, maintenance, renovation, to promote their expertise, while also providing a forum for major stakeholders, professionals, marketers, real developers, property merchants, government agencies, researchers, etc in building and construction industry to interact and exchange ideas."

It added that in line with its mission, the Abuja Housing Show and Award was introduced to provide a platform for playing in the real estate industry to showcase both local and foreign products and services and is also targeted at rewarding excellence in the housing and construction sector of the economy.

Speakers at the conference include, the Managing Director, Bauhaus International United States of America, Dr. Victor Onukwagh, President, Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers, Mr. Victor Oyenuga, President, Shelter Right Initiatives Limited, Mr. Raymond Onyegu, among others.
